The Historic 19th Century Hotel (originally 1847). Nostalgic balcony still facing into the original marketsquare - the centre of Burra. Burra is a country town in South Australia located 160km north of Adelaide, with a population of approximately 1,200 people.
"A motorcycle mechanical failure brought me to The Burra Hotel. Fortunately it failed next to the hotel and on recommendation from a local I asked the manager of the hotel if I could leave by bike in a secured place at the hotel until I retrieved it to home. Ali and Doug could not be more helpful and my bike was secured in a shed at the rear of the pub. I returned a couple of days later and help was provided to assist to trailer my bike. I lunched at the hotel, and had a wonderful fish and salad meal which was fresh, well presented, equal to and better than some Adelaide restaurants I recently dined at. Ali and Doug have recently taken over this hotel, and together with Doug's skills as a qualified chef and their enthusiasm, I am sure this hotel will become even more popular. I would recommend this hotel for travelling motorcyclist."
